Residential construction whether for a new or existing property includes similar steps and processes. These are site assessment, programmatic evaluation of space requirements and relationships, schematic design, design development, construction documents and specifications.  Ross Design prefers a team approach to design development and welcomes the inclusion of interior designers, consultants and contractors.  This approach can streamline the process and minimize the potential for problems once construction begins.  Examples of residential projects completed by Ross Design can be found in the portfolio portion of this website.

A large portion of Ross Design’s work is located within older in-town neighborhoods.  Many of these are located in historic or environmentally protected sites create an additional layer of design control.  Ross Design is adept at working with these project types and has experience with several commissions including:  The Urban Design Commission-Atlanta, Grant Park Historic District, Druid Hills Historic District, Chattahoochee River Corridor and the California Coastal Commission. Lighting, material selection, usage and color selection are an important and integral part of a successful overall project. As part of the design process, Ross Design assists in the choices for built-in cabinetry, counters and casework.  Ross Design also provides assistance with the selection of lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures and appliances.  Ross Design welcomes the opportunity to include an interior designer as a part of the project team.

Ross Design can provide clients with valuable bidding and negotiation guidance with their contractors as well as construction contract administration.  Ross Design prefers to maintain weekly involvement through the construction process to keep the process flowing smoothly.  This continuity provides the clients the assurance that the project is being built to their expectations and streamlines the problem resolution process.

Whether making a decision to expand or purchase, Ross Design is available to help evaluate whether a property is suited to an ideal project. Many clients have found this service useful during the initial decision making process.  Part of this service includes initial zoning research to verify what is possible.  Clients have utilized this service to update their existing home prior to a sale or after a major life change that might require an adjustment in the configuration of their spaces.

Many of Ross Design's projects include the design of custom cabinetry and/or furniture as a part of the design solution. Built-in storage units of all kinds are integral to the design and often take advantage of underutilized space. The integration of these units into the entire trim package of the project is one of Ross Design's specialties.  If one-of-a-kind pieces are beyond a client's budget, Ross Design is also adept at creatively using with stock cabinetry to achieve a custom look at a less than custom price.
